SLOW TRAVEL BERLIN
Temples, Lido, 9pm
Just as you can’t read an international press article about Berlin that doesn’t refer to the city as “poor but sexy,” you can’t read an article about Temples without the author mentioning that Noel Gallagher, one half of the dueling Oasis brothers, has dubbed the psychedelic rock group “the best new band in Britain.”
Yet while the claim may be controversial to some, the band’s appearance at Introducing earlier this year certainly solidified its place in the German scene, as Deutschland’s denizens are all too eager to pick up what Temples is putting down.
Earlier this year, the group released Sun Structures - a 12-track debut rife with warm, fuzzy, mellow pop tunes that sound as though they were made in the ’60s. And tonight is a rare chance to hear that sound live as the band takes a break from the summer festival circuit.Natalye Childress
