SLOW TRAVEL BERLIN
Little Dragon, Astra Kulturhaus, 8pm

Swedish electronic group Little Dragon has been around since 1996, and has four albums to its name, but it was only the most recent – this year’s Nabuma Rubberband – that branched beyond the band’s inner core to collaborate with other musicians. More specifically, the album boasts the musical contributions of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Danish producer Robin Hannibal and Dave of De La Soul.

Singer Yukimi Nagano has stated that the album was influenced by Janet Jackson, and the melding of electronic, pop and R&B is apparent throughout the album’s 12 tracks. But perhaps more interesting than the record is the band’s live performance, which features a balanced interplay between Nagano’s vocals, the slow jam beats, echoing bass and a stunning light show to boot. Natalye Childress
